Some supporters of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and Senator Magnus Abe in a recent development have locked horn over a directive, which calls for the immediate closure of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Secretariat in Rivers State.
News4Naija gathered that a faction of the APC in the state led by Igo Aguma released a directive on Saturday ordering the immediate closure of all factional Secretariats of the All Progressive Congress in the state.
Aguma was declared the party’s acting caretaker Committee Chairman in June by the Rivers State high court and has since then spear head all activities of the APC in the state.
The Rivers State APC Acting Care taker committee chairman in a statement said he had seek permission from the National Career taker committee Chairman of the party, Mai Bala Buri,before giving the directive to shut all party Secretariats in the state.
However, a Media aide to the Chairman, Livingston Nwehie, revealed that a splinter group within the party is being run by Dr Sokonte Davie, and that Sokonte’s action is affecting the development of the party in the state.
In his own words the APC acting Caretaker Committee Chairman in Rivers State declared that he had written a letter to inform the APC National Caretaker Committee Chairman of the splinter group being led by Mr Sokonte Davies, he reiterated that the party leadership is advising Me Sokonte to immediately comply with the Rivers State caretaker committee decision to shutdown all Factional party Secretariat in the state.
The acting publicity secretary of the Rivers State APC Ogbonna Nwuke, in a response to Aguma, said he has no legal right to direct for the closure of the party Secretariats, he mentioned that Aguma have been suspended from the Rivers State All Progressive Congress.
Nwuka who is believed to be a loyalist of Amaechi, declared that Aguma was suspended by 28 members out of 38 statutory members of the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State.
