EFCC gets new acting Chairman, See Who

Following the suspension of Ibrahim Magu due to his ongoing quizzing by the Presidential Task Force, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has gotten a new acting Chairman on Wednesday.

The Head of Operations at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mohammed Umar, was said to have taken over the vacant position of acting Chairman of the Organization.

News4Naija had earlier reported that Ibrahim Magu, the now suspended acting Chairman of the EFCC, was alleged of Impropriety, misappropriation of fund and and property by the Presidential Task Force, and he had been taken to Abuja for quizzing.

However, it was learnt that Magu would have to seize being the EFCC boss until the Panel decides on his case as this is the customary practice for person’s holding principal position as such.

Hence the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman’s seat became vacant and has now been occupied by Mohammed Umar, a Deputy commissioner of police unt his assumption of duty as the EFCC acting Chairman pending the time the Presidential Task Force decides on Magu’s trial.

Nevertheless news source reported that there had been a major push from some faction in government for the appointment of the present EFCC secretary Ola Olukoyede, to occupy the acting Chairman position, but the suggestion was opposed and dropped because the EFCC secretary is not of armed force background.

However there are speculations on Wednesday evening that the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Bala Ciroma, will likely be the next EFCC Chairman.
