The immediate past Managing Director (MD) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joy Nunieh, has given an account of how she was rescued from being arrested by heavily armed policemen without a warrant of arrest.
Nunieh revealed this while speaking to news men at the Rivers state Government house In Port Harcourt on Thursday; she explained that some heavily armed security operatives believed to be from the police force tried to break into her house through the security door but the Governor came in and ordered them out of her premises.
The Ex-NDDC boss further elucidated that she had earlier informed Governor Wike about the invasion of her house by men of the police force and that the governor came in to her rescue just about the time when the security operatives were trying to break into her room, according to her the door was difficult to break for the policemen because it was a security door.
Nunieh said the policemen said they didn’t have a warrant of arrest when she asked them for it, and that was the reason why she had refused to follow them, she added that the Governor Wike later came and send the policemen away asking them why they have came to arrest a woman like an armed robber.
She added that she is safe in the government house in Port Harcourt and that she was making preparations to take her reports to the House of Representatives Committee in Abuja before her house was invaded by the police.
