Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on Monday held an online meeting with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
The Governor made this known through his Facebook page where he stated that his relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari is that of of a Father and Son.
Obaseki said himself and the President discussed issues relating to factor mitigating against the development of Edo State citizens as well as the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
“I was on a zoom meeting with the President, during which we engaged on development issues affecting Edo people and Nigerians. We also discussed measures to manage the spread of COVID-19,” he posted on Facebook with some photos of the meeting.
However, the Governor who is currently seeking a reelection under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) refused to disclose if the present state of politics in Edo State was discussed with the President.
Recall that Obaseki had dumped the All Progressive Congress after he was disqualified from participating in the party’s primary Election.
Nevertheless, the Governor got the ticket to contest the Election on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party and he would be facing Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC as well as other political junkets in the Edo politics.
The political atmosphere in Edo State has continued to turbo-charged day-after-day as the Election scheduled for September 19 is just two months away.
